What is Cool??
In todays session, the class concentrated on the question : What is cool?
This is a question which im sure you will agree, is extremly difficult to answer.
Can cool be something which everyone can agree on? Does it depend on age, nationality or gender?
I dont think cool can be 'set in stone' so to speak.
The world cool, is something thats taken for granted, we say it without realsing sometime, we see something we like and react by saying 'Thats cool'.
Breaking norms and values can be seen as uncool... but who decides??
I think it comes down to an individual perception, which others will agree or disagree with/... thus groups are formed making things popular, and being viewed as cool!!
The internet provides us a tremendous amount of information, thats spread worldwide. Sites such as Youtube allows us to be transported into someone elses idea of cool, and share, and comment on it. Networking sites such as facebook, become discusiion boards, groups are formed and used as platforms of discussion be it trivally or serious, they are seen as cool in someones eyes.
Cool used to be something which was unique, not seen before a new experience,, now its something people want to be. As a child in school, you always wanted to be in the cool group, go to the cool place. But who defines these people and places?
How to people detach themselves from being cool, and why are they not excepted for being cool? Perhaps its something that.
In my opinion cool is something which relates to you, something which you and others can share, below s a list of links to other peoples cool websites
